XERIUINI RIVER PEACOCK BASS ADVENTURES
Target Trophy Peacocks in a Protected Brazilian Watershed
Throughout this past decade, peacock bass fishing in South America has enjoyed tremendous popularity. Unfortunately, the increasing influx of anglers has taken its toll on several of the fisheries that, at one time, were considered world class. With camps and mothership operations competing for the same prime water, savvy operators are now looking for un-pressured, remote rivers to offer their clients
One such productive peacock bass fishery is on the Xeriuini River, located in the vast watershed of Brazil's Roraima State. The Xeriuini River and its maze of lagoons and backwater bays is located within the protected confines of an ecological reserve of approximately 1,6000,000 acres. Owner/operator Wellington Melo has obtained exclusive rights to fish this river. The Xeriuini is 130 miles long and is a tannin stained river. It harbors a fantastic population of trophy peacocks in excess of 14 pounds. The owners have established two camps on this river, far enough from each other so that anglers visiting either camp will not be fishing water beaten to a froth by anglers visiting the other camp
ACCOMMODATIONS AT XERIUINI RIVER PEACOCK BASS ADVENTURES
The owners of this operation have utilized natural wood from the jungle to complete this lodge, one that is interconnected by raised walkways. Two anglers will share a room, each equipped with private bathroom and shower. Each room is air conditioned.
DINNING AT XERIUINI RIVER PEACOCK BASS ADVENTURES
A dining room located just a short walk from each bungalow offers a mixture of traditional American style meals and Brazilian regional cuisine. Anglers will enjoy fish, chicken and steaks, along with a variety of fruits and freshly baked breads and pastries. You'll enjoy buffet-style meals served in chafing dishes, along with a choice of red or white wine, beer, water or soft drinks. The camp offers a complimentary fully stocked bar/lounge for you to unwind after a long day battling the peacock bass.
FISHING AT XERIUINI RIVER PEACOCK BASS ADVENTURES
The Xeriuini River offers a natural, lightly explored fishery. The goal is to keep it as natural as possible so that special anglers like you can have a special place to fish peacock bass. The Xeriuini River is located in the southwestern corner of the state of Roraima (on the frontier with the state of Amazonas), in a protected ecological reserve, in the city of Caracaraí. It is about 130 miles in length and about 7 feet in depth in the summertime. The water is black and acid, which prevents proliferation of mosquitoes. Many lakes provide fishermen and anglers with excellent places to hunt for giant peacock bass. Anglers will fish two to a boat with an experienced local guide. The boats are equipped with raised casting decks, swivel seats, trolling motors and coolers. This is a true trophy peacock bass fishery and anglers can expect to catch double digit fish each day.
